it came fast and furious and early, my subject line that is, but was never revisited. WTF? the dog whose throat was cut (a white, short-haired thing) in the initial flashback didn't at all resemble the dog running around the rest of the movie (a long black haired thing). what was that all about? Easily the most disturbing bit of this movie, yeah???
shareIt went by too quickly for me to see what type of animal it was, but I was under the impression it would have been a goat; there's a story in one of those various 'all about the Stones' type books where they're all in Tangier and Brian was freaking out about someone slitting the throat of a goat they all later had cooked for dinner.
Whatever kind of beastie it was, I think it was supposed to shock in that onceupon a time there was all sorts of inferred occult interests by the band, and this was no doubt a sacrifice of some kind.
As in films sacrfices often foreshadow character death as well...you get the idea.
It this why they named the album 'Goats Head Soup'?? :D

It's a goat. This segment of the film references a story about Brian when he went to Morocco to hear the Joujouca pipes. There was a little ceremony which involved the slaughter and cooking of a goat for a feast in honor of Brian's visit. After they had killed the goat, someone placed the goat's head on a platter. When everyone saw the head go by...all of this blonde and white hair on it...they started laughing and telling Brian, "That is you on that platter!" He laughingly admitted that it looked like him but apparently it bothered him greatly. Just an old Stones story.
