Marianne Faithfull!

I must read those books! I only know Marianne Faithfull's view of Brian from her episode of "Behind the Music" on VH-1. There she recalled being very upset by Brian's death, how much she liked Brian. I agree with your question of why Keith and Mick get a free pass. Maybe that is why the Glimmer Twins teamed up - for protection? Brian was a loner, therefore a victim. I did read in one book that after Brian died, Mick and Keith began to appreciate Brian's situation more when they began receive the media glare once directed at Brian.

I agree with your comment about the Brian vitriol from those who were "close" to him and "knew" him well. I've read comments made by Anita in books and interviews where she says he was a terrible person, yet more recently she's turned it around- As if the passage of time has caused her to reflect on what the world may have lost out on. More recently, she has referred to him as an "extraordinary character" and one of the "good" people who was lost to the sixties. She's also stated recently that towards the end of his life, he was around people who weren't of his caliber and who took advantage of his acute senstivity. It's as if she and others such as Marianne, and possibly Keith et al, did not fully appreciate his creativity and talent- at least, not enough to really get in there and fight to save him from himself. Like the saying goes "With friends like these, who needs enemies?"
