Not too bad, but where was the advisor?

Anyone else notice the Captain with the beard, the sideways rank on the Captain and enlisted Soldiers, odd names for Chief Warrant Officer Chandler ("Officer" or his full rank instead of just "Mister" or "Chief"), excessive fraterization, and other out of place things in the movie? Also, what's with all the reviews saying the movie is about Marines? Even my DVR says it is about the murder of a "well respected Marine's wife." Marines don't wear funny looking hats. Overall, despite the lack of a good military advisor, I'd say the movie was pretty good. Lou Diamond Phillips did an outstanding job as usual.

How about the Sailors in the bar wearing dungarees and dixie cups?

Yeah, the military inaccuracies really distracted from the movie, I thought. They just really stood out to me...you mentioned the facial hair on the MP Captain. There was also no rank insignia on his beret - only the enlisted wear their unit crest; officers wear rank insignia. The collar insignias were on correctly. The major was not entirely correct in his "Dress Greens" (not typically worn for working uniform in garrison setting). Also CID agents are in "stovepipe" command, and do not work for the Provost Marshall. I can't imagine any Army CID agent not taking jurisdictional control over a murder scene on an Army installation.
There was also the MP brussard on the uniform of Cpl Jeffries when they were in and after they left the club. Not worn when not on duty. I doubt an MP would have taken their weapon with them after end of shift. They are checked out and turned in. She also had extremely nice quarters for an E-4. Also, very few "hard-striper" E-4's in the MP's, although it is possible.
However, it seems I have watched several "B-class" movies lately where the use of a branch-appropriate military advisor was obviously missing.

My gf got tired of me telling her every innaccuracy I picked up on. She said, "just shut up and watch the movie". The goatee'd CO, crooked ranks, I saw an upside-down rank on the corporal at one point, the movie is loaded with military appearance/guideline errors.
