Does anyone know if the soundtrack is going to be released or do I need to hunt these songs down one by one?//

shareMany of the tracks are available on On-U Records. I think Adrian Sherwood who mixed the music for the movie is planning a soundtrack on On-U next year.
shareHey this is producer Ben Katz. Yes, we're doing what we can to sort legal rights to deliver this to the market. Adrian pulled together literally hundreds of artists, and it's a gem. We're doing what we can to get this out! We want it out, it's just unclear how soon we can get deals in the UK and US sorted. Thanks.

hey, most films and soundtracks are rubbish.
you should be proud of your accomplishment in "johnny was"

good one.. enjoyed it a lot... fantastic music...
agreed, the best soundtrack I have heard in a long time.
Can't wait for the official release :)
I AGREE BEST SOUNDTRAC EVER BUT DOES ANY ONE NO THE NAME OF THE ARTIST WHO SINGS RISE UP
I NO ONE OF THE SONGS IS CALLED
The Abyssinians - Satta Massagana
Rise Up is Ghetto Priest and Adrian Sherwood.
sharei've been a big fan of the abyssinians and was shocked when it was in this movie... unbelievably good soundtrack - i expected marley's "johnny was" to be in it though
shareI am begging on my knees for this music! It has now been a year and this is the most deserving soundtrack I have ever heard! I NEED TO BUY IT!!!!!
shareAre there any bands actively doing the mix of Irish music and Reggae. Because that style was pretty damn awesome and effective in the movie. Those are two styles I would have never thought could be placed together, but it works. Outside of this movie and the song Rise Up, are there other songs?
shareWould reccomend "Afro Celt Sound System - Volume 1 - Sound Magic"
shareIf you like 'Rise Up', you should check out RíRá: www.myspace.com/maddaxxe (he's the Irish MC on 'Rise Up').
shareGood news! The music is now up on 3 CDs from iTunes. Simply search for "Johnny Was Original" in iTunes and download away. you can listen to 30 seconds of each track and choose which to buy or you can buy all for something like $22.
