Was this movie written by feminists?

First off the male "hero" is killed, and replaced by a "superior" female, who is bad ass etc. Then the first to panic is the fat guy who gets puked on by the monster. The heroine literally beats the *beep* out of him, showing she is both physically and mentally superior.

Then theres a bit of humiliation, the guy in the suit is portrayed as a moron because of his plan to scare the monsters, and he gets further humiliated and emasculated by getting his trousers ripped and being forced to wear womens sweats.

The brother who isnt in the wheelchair is shown to be a coward by refusing to go upstairs, and is asked "if he has any balls" ( further humiliation).
Then when the guy is locked in the room upstairs, who rescues him by opening the lock and castrating(!) the monster? The tough single mom of course.

This film is like one long music video by Pink.
Males : weak.
Females : strong, smart, sexy.

Funny, because ive seen my share of bar/street/club brawls, and for some reason no woman has ever beaten the *beep* out of a guy like it happens in every hollywood movie. In fact I, ( the evil white male) have helped women getting attacked more than once, but never have I seen a tough-tank top wearing heroine show up and roundhouse kick a bullying male.

Yeah, you're right for the most part - except the part where a woman gets raped in the face by a male monster...

Come on, Honey Pie is a woman and she's the one who cowardly runs for her own safety instead of rescuing the others.
Has it really come to this? Just minutes ago some guy on another board complained about a movie that did not show a sufficient number of women among a crowd of reporters. Are you guys really going hysterical over such crap? I didn't think "Feast" portrayed women overly positive - try "Sin City", THAT was obvious even to me.
Also, don't forget that often the reason for a female lead in horror movies is expanded screen time for a rack, targetting the male audience. Like you mentioned, everybody with open eyes can see that in real life the girls often can't get their *beep* together in tough situations. But that goes for some guys, too :)

I totally hear you, if I see one more uber-female bad@ss in a movie I'm going to hurl. I don't think it's a bad plot device and in fact it was kinda cool way back when, but it's been done and overdone and superduperoverdone to point it's just lame. If the woman was a professional athlete or kickboxer or vigilante or something, then OK, at least you could buy it. But these days it's like *every* woman at any age can suddenly conjure up superhuman bad@ssness at will - watch out for granny, your @ss is grass and she's the lawnmower!

In fact, I'll be equal opportunity about this and go on record that I'm just flat out sick of butt-kickin' bad@sses both male and female in movies. Attention Hollywood, I live in America, I know what Americans are like. The majority of the lazy slobs and slobettes around me can hardly climb a flight of stairs, let alone roundhouse kick somebody into submission. It's just not believable, even in a not-to-be-believed piece of junk like this movie. C'mon, give us *something* credible to work with here!

Ok, so I got a bit offtrack, but back to Feast - I'm pretty sure that the producers of these kinds of POS movies have concluded that only way they can get a woman to play the lead is if she's a superhuman bad@ss who puts the men in the film to shame, or gets to castrate somebody/something, or both (in the case of this movie). They also figure that this will draw an audience of wanna-be female bad@sses and/or feminists once word gets around. That's why in so many of these monster/zombie/vampire/whathaveyou movies, the strong lead is a female. It's probably a condition for financing of the picture, and it's a manipulation to get a female audience on board. Pretty sad. BTW, Feast sucks.

ROFL, funny imagery, but true...

Actually, it's been and still is a fantasy of guys. I watched this movie because of Navi "Amita" Rawat. Then while I was watching, I was like, cool, she's a badass.

And Krista Allen was a bonus. Then while I was watching, I was like, cool, she's a badass, too. ;-)

Pretty sad. BTW, Feast sucks.

Agreed. Thought it was senseless violence. The only redeeming quality was the afore-mentioned badass females...

wierzbowski--696969, is there some story that you'd like to share with us so we can better understand your reasons for this rant? It's not like you just didn't like the movie, you definitely put a lot of thought into analyzing how the males in this movie were "humiliated and emasculated", is this something that has happened to you a lot in the past?

BTW, I love how you put this bit in to let us know how hardcore you are:

1. take any movie.
2. take only pieces about women being good and totaly ignore parts of women being bad.
3. claim its a feminist movie.
4. ????
5. profit.

Best way to deal with trolls is to add them to your ignore list.

I hope no feminists were involved in the making of this film, but Harley Mom aside, the writers seem to have struck a chord, if only by accident; by attempting to de-conventionalize the survivability of some of the characters, they may have inadvertantly created feminist plot turns. However, given the sheer awfulness of Harley Mom's fate, it is a rather large and glaring aside.

Lets put it this way.

The Director is part of Hollywood (or wants to be), and feminism has taken over Hollywood.

The Director probably padded some parts to satisfy the actresses he had, and From what I read, the sex scene at the beginning was supposed to show Krista Allen partialy nude, but she got an attitude about it and backed out last minute.

If you let an actress do that something tells me your weak and that your portrayl of men in your movies will be weak, and this weakness PERMEATES Hollywood.

This weakness in our male movie directors over the last 20 years is a DIRECT result of feminisms control on Hollywood.

Things like GamerGate are real, these minority groups have the majority petrified they will call them racists or bigots

THANKS FOR THIS POST OP.
You just saved me a couple hours of my life LOL. I'm getting sick and tired of this third-wave crap that's sweeping the globe, including Hollywood. I don't care if this is better than Citizen Kane. I'm not being brainwashed (anymore) with this agenda-laden bullsh--.

All I have to say, to the rash of proponents of crap like this, if feminism and female superiority is so proper and relevant, show it to me IN REAL LIFE.

REAL SCENARIO...... a group of ten people, two weak, fat dudes and eight women, get caught in a remote bar, and are being attacked by monsters. QUESTION: who gets to put their "two" lives on the line first?

I'll let it go at that....

"Hey, shut up in there, I'm trying to type....." OT: Do the voices in my head bother you?

reply

Well, to be quite honest, the OP is 100% incorrect. I hate crap that's PC and portrays men as bad just because they are men and so forth. However, Feast really is not like this, one of the most unlikeable characters in the film is a woman who cowardly runs away. Two of the women in the film do absolutely nothing that contributes to anything. Yes, there are two women that kick a$$ but that's two out of five (40%), most of them are portrayed as useless. Now, there are male characters in the film that are bastards but to be honest, most of them all do stuff that contributes to the situation and Clu Gulager is a bada$$. Also, I don't think there is many feminist films that have a woman getting raped in the face by a monster. Cheers!
