Personally I liked the concept of them being creatures of the dark better. When Bozo was grilling Granny because "old people know stuff, like legends", so the first thing that popped in my mind was Native American stories. These things could have very well been just creatures that exist far out on their own in like Death Valley or something (the entire movie took place in a desert canyon) where just either this one instance of bad luck set them out onto the world, or they've been sleeping, were in some caves, got bored, etc.

But yeah, I definitely think they're just creatures from Native American legends.

reply

If you mean a car crash... no, krash is just a nickname that doesn't mean anything, eggy on the other hand is just... plain gay, I bet the number 499 tells us how many eggs you shoved up your ass before becoming a total egghead. Now please, go away... this is too childish.

Who cares were it came from the movie was great! Oh, K-mart what a goofball smartass comment!

There's a trailer that explains the monsters. It says they are some kind of new weapon that has to be tested... on us.
Check (i think) the last trailer of feast on imdb.

Really TNX for the real non-smartass answer.

They reminded me of the hungry critters in two things I've read and liked so muchthey stayed in my head: Anthony Boucher's short story "They Bite" and Thomas Monteleone's novel "Night Things". Both have a desert setting as well.
I enjoyed "Feast" and found it much better than I anticipated from watching "Project Greenlight". My friend and I watched it during one of our horror video marathons and had fun with it.
