Why do people like this game??

I found God of War on the short side. It was short and I breezed through it with everything upgraded and beat Challenge of the Gods before I had to return it back to Hollywood. That was 5 days.

Call me stupid but isn't God of War the same thing? Except the Blades of Chaos got brighter and longer and you also had a different sword (forgot its name).

And the "dumb sword" is only one of 4 weapons Dante can use. Plus add I think the four Devil Arms, and Vergil's 2 weapons, his Devil Arm, Nelo Angelo (devil triggered) weapon, and you got yourself a lot of weapons. Plus add you can do 10+ different attacks with each weapon and you can upgrade your Devil Arms and you got different styles to use those weapons with. So yeah.

Yes I agree with you. maybe some people just don't know a good game when they see one.

hey, i like god of war and all, but i find it a lot like DMC(red orbs...upgrades...c'mon admit it!), only easier.
david jaffe is such a b*tch, i'm sorry! i've read some of the stuff he's said for magazines, what a hard-ass.
people who hate it, like my friend, probably think it's too hard. i like GoW maybe a little better than DMC sometimes just because the gameplay flows much nicer i guess. but DMC is better IMO.

Wow. GoW copied DMC. Yeah, I guess that's a valid reason for it to suck. A complete lack of any form of grammar in your...post makes it difficult to read. At least you spelled the words correctly.

Devil May Cry, like I find with a lot of japanese games, tries too hard to look good. I mean, Dante moves with the agility of a cat, fast and whatnot, taunting and all that other cliched crap. Sure it's fun to watch, but I just got bored of it. The enemies were boring; most cases of it being, hit this so many times until it's dead. Or, even better. Hit this so many times so that you can weaken it and hit something else until it closes up. All the different moves and weapons didn't matter, as you were pretty much doing the same thing.
And the graphics? Sure polygons, textures, lighting and that were all of good quality. But the game took too long to change the style that it just felt monotonous and dull.
Learning to master each style? Wow, that sounds dull. I found the game fun for the first few missions, sure, but once I started trying to "master each style" it just got boring.

God of War...may not be a perfect game. But it was fun, and easy just to pick up and play, and the bosses were not just things you hit so many times until they were dead. Minigames and things helped make things varied and interesting. Battling the minotaur for the first time still remains as one of my most memorable fights in a game. The puzzles weren't too great, for sure, but they were, once again, fun.
As for the storyline, it was well presented. Not just cinematics every time you completed a mission, but well narrated and stylized ones when it made sense.
