Does it get much harder than Agni and Rudra???

I just got this game today and just beat mission 5. Up until mission 5, I would still say the game was relatively challenging but fighting Agni and Rudra was on a totally different level! It was so hard and frustrating that for my last few tries I wasn't having any fun at all. Seeing as how I have a lot of the game to go, I was just wondering if each boss is going to keep increasing in difficultly. Because if that is the case, I may as well quit now.

It really depends on what kind of gamer you are. I beat Agni & Rudra first time on normal though I struggled and struggled against Cerberus and Nevan while other people found her a doddle compared to Beowulf whom I thought was easy. I hope this doesn't sound patronising but try changing styles, weapons or learning new skills or failing that stocking up on green/purple orbs and see if that helps.

reply

Thanks for the advice, changing styles sounds like a good idea since I would like to complete the game since it is so much fun.

NEvan.... -shoawhgiu;awer. Yea I found Beowulf easy but my sister failed against him. I always just keep jumping around =P Vergil can be sooo irritating when he starts the combo moves against you and you can't jump out of the way =P

Yeah, in the final battle against Vergil I spent most of my time in the air just trying to stay out of his way.

I like Trickster best, but this is making me want to go back and master all the other styles. Did anyone actually use Quicksilver?

People keep saying how hard the DMC games are, which I don't understand. I am not a very avid gamer as I suck at playing video games, but I'm obsessed with the DMC series and never had any trouble beating them(granted I always chose easy level because, like I said, I suck at playing VG). I agree though, that I thought Beowulf was easy, but was pulling my hair out over Nevan and Cerebus. I think it has a lot to do with they way you play. Supposedly, you use a pattern and patience with Nevan and Cerebus, and I lack patience so I just jump around and slash and shoot as much as possible and that's how I beat Beowulf so easily.

I've also heard that people struggled with the plane part in the DMC1 and I got through that the first time without hitting a single thing. But again, easy level.

The reason people say these games are so hard is because on the higher difficulty levels, they are for the gaming elite only. You, who only play on easy, wouldn't last 10 seconds on Dante Must Die mode, and even then you would only last about 5 seconds less than the average gamer. Most games are at least playable on their higher difficulty levels, but these games are for experts only.

reply

Yea the dude who said I found all of these games easy um.... you played it on EASY!! ye have no opinion for difficulty. Even I never put it on easy thats just punking out and supposedly Devi May Cry 3 US release normal mode was japanese hard mode. It was a hard game to play Agni and Rudra pissed me off when I first got there that fight was hard for me. So was Nevan and Vergil both times I hated fighting him Beowulf was pretty simple though. Great part about this game is you could choose your own style I used Swordmaster with Agni Rudra and Rebellion. You can really get some great combos going and end it with Dance Macabre. Very cool game letting people choose how they want to fight :) hope they do the same with Devil May Cry 4 just pissed I bought it when it first came out then they add Vergil a year later :(

Well, I'm not an avid gamer and don't spend hours upon hours playing video games. I don't have the time to become somebody who can brag that I beat the game on the most intense levels. If you can, more power to you, but I'll play a game at a level I find enjoyable, even if that is the "easy" level. If it makes me someone who's not a true gamer, well duh. Considering I only play video games like once every 6 months, that's not surprising. I enjoy the story lines of these games and that's why I play them. Truth is, I've tried the harder levels and do fine with them until I get bored of hacking away forever at the same enemy, let myself get killed and go back to easy level. Patience is a virtue I don't possess. :-)

Well, why would you comment on the difficulty of a game if, by your own admition, you don't play on the difficult levels? People claim that the game is hard, not so much in general, but on the higher difficulty levels like say "Normal". I don't believe you for one second when you say that you tried the game on higher difficulty levels and stopped because you were bored. There's nothing wrong with not having the skills to beat games on extreme difficulty levels, but this conversation is about who hard this game is and then here you come and say "it's not that hard. I can beat it on easy." That's like saying "Golf isn't that hard, I can beat my baby brother in putt putt like, all the time."

reply

Actually, I have heard some people complain it was too hard, even on easy. Yes, they're probably not hard core gamers either. Besides, if people are going to complain about the game being too hard, then specify "on harder levels" and not just in general. Basically, people are complaining over bragging rights then. Because the game IS beatable at lower levels without too much frustration, although I think the easy level on the SE version is almost too easy. I like the levels on the original.

And, you don't have to believe me that I got bored, but it's the truth. I like the games to go fairly quickly, because like I said, I don't have a lot of time(I work a lot) and I lack patience. It just becomes kind of mind numbing after a while if it takes too long. But that's me.

reply

Well, it's not really about bragging rights, and we aren't complaining about the difficulty level either. I happen to like games that are hard. I think games like Grand Theft Auto where ther are virtually no rules are entirely to easy. I play games for a challenge. I'm kind of old school when it comes to games and that's why I like the DMC games. They feel and look new, but have an old school challenge. To most gamers, beating a game on easy isn't saying much, because you aren't getting the full gaming experience. It's almost like they're letting you win. Most of the people who talk about how hard this game is are saying "it's hard, but that's how I like it". We aren't complaining or bragging. However, anyone who can beat this game on Dante Must Die mode, I'll buy him a beer. No, I still don't believe that you got "bored" with the game on higher levels. Anyone who sucks at video games wouldn't be able to survive long enough to get bored. But whatever.

"I believe it is you who are mistaken...about a great many things."

i already completed dmc3 on dante must die mode without losing any health whatsoever against agni and rudra, they were the easiest. anyone who can reinact that should be widely congratulated, now wheres my beer?

if anybody is looking for $1000 wrapped up in a rubber band, i found the rubber band...

reply

I'll put from hardest to easiest (The ones i killed so far)

Cerberus
The Shadow thing
Vergil
Nevan
Agni & Rudra
Beowulf
Lady

And it's not really a boss, but those damn ghost witch things, like the one you fight in the end of Mission 2, are a REAL pain in the ass.
I loved, though, beating that one with the Devil Trigger using Agni & Rudra, and the Lv.3 Trickster moves. It takes, like, 3 seconds :P.

reply

Likewise, everyone has their own speciality when it comes to bosses. I loathe fighting Cerberus, because of his raining ice attacks and having to blast the ice off his body.

Agni & Rudra however, I managed to kick ass on after getting into the game again (I'd put DMC3 on hold for a couple years, so I was a somewhat rusty). Plus, use Cerberus, Agni is weaker than a three day old kitten against it. Just try and keep Rudra at the same health beatdown, so you don't end up facing Agni or Rudra with both swords at once.

Vergil had his moments, but after getting Agni & Rudra and learning when to attack, he was fairly cakewalk-ish. Vergil Redux 1 though... In two horrific, mind-chilling words that can make any gamer groan... Devil-Trigger. Vergil part 2 is a very bad man.

And Nevan... We all know why Capcom's made her that good-looking, cause she drives most players round the twist when she uses that bloody bat shield! Then when you actually get close enough to wallop her, she pulls a 360 degree attack, that forces you to Air Hike out of the way while she zips to the other side of the room.
