American Cash In The Attic is GREAT!

My kids and I could never watch TV with my wife when she watched the British version of Cash In The Attic. I personally had nothing against it other than it put me to sleep. However my children thought they were being punished for something everytime the British version was on.
Thank goodness for the American version! They made it it ENTERTAINING! What a revolutionary idea (no pun intended).
The American version is funny, fast-paced, and informative.
We have family TV time again.

That's great you like the American version but I definately like the British version more.

The hosts on the American version are loud, too perky and HIGHLY annoying to me, and I don't like that they constantly break into the flow of the show with comments like other reality tv shows. I took it off my Tivo schedule... very disappointing... Plus, no eye candy like Alistair and Jonty to ogle! :)

That's interesting.

I was going to say something similar to what clarktruman said.

It's fast-paced, a lot louder, more kinetic, and uh, folksy (I guess).

It's definitely made more suitable to an American audience. The British version is much more slow-paced, quieter, and definitely is edited less chaotically.

ADHD/ADD is simply a fact of life in America - a lot more so than in the UK - hence many Americans, and not just kids, have difficulty focusing on the show and following it.

The American version makes it alot more suitable for people of all ages.

I personally prefer the UK version, though. I'm an old person at heart, ususally prefer books to tv and all that. The UK version suits me just fine, but I can see why someone would like the US version better.

I suppose you make a good point. I think that if they calmed down a little bit, not get too loud, I could enjoy it more.

Sorry, I can't disagree more. The U.S. version seems to much more of a gameshow/reality tv amalgam. The britsh version place emphasis on the antiques, the stories behind them and the people selling them. Coupled with charming hosts (Alistair and Angus) and experts (Jonty and Paul), it's far more watchable, entertaining as well as educational.

Totally agree, the American Version loses a lot, the British version as you said focuses more on the antiques, history etc., the American version is to hyper and just not as good, but to each his own.

Are they still showing the American version?

reply

I hope not! The American version of the show took everything that was good about the British version and ruined it! They made it like some sort of stupid game show, with lots of stupid gimmicks! The overly perky, aggravating hosts only made things worse! Also, they always seemed to take the antiques to Billy Joe Bob's local auction house where everything always sold for less than what it should have.
