Beheading of Milady

In the book Milady De Winter was beheaded by sword. Why did they used axe in this movie?

They haven't followed the book at all in many parts of the plot, so why should using the axe be such a big thing? Using a sword was less common than using an axe, so they probably used it for that reason.

If memory serves me correctly, the Disney Charlie Sheen version has Milady jumping off a cliff. I mean, movies rarely follow the books correctly. I could be completely wrong and in the Disney version, Milady transforms into a beautiful princess. Who the hell knows anymore?
