how did...... (SPOILERS...PROCEED WITH CAUTION)
....shunekosuri, the little puppet guy, survive. He seems pretty frakked by the climax, yet is perfectly fine in the end scene. I thought he died.

shareTadashi's love and tears revived him, of course!
Or maybe it was the whole being-wedged-in-Kawahime's-shirt thing. Who knows.
Sune-Kosuri was transformed into an evil mechanized being, but once he died he returned to his original form, but as a ghost.
shareI don't think he was a ghost, I think the reason he was fading away was because Tadashi was growing up, and adults can't see Yokai.
--Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter--
your explanation of why he wouldnt be able to see his ghost because hes growing up is weird on miike's part cuz why would tadashi after fighting a giant war with huge terminator rejects on top of japans skyscrapers, would he stop thinking about the yokai and or stop believing they were real, lol.

Trans-oceanic Death to this earth
He just needs to get drunk.

He's a supernatural creature, but solid. That's why he wouldn't drink the milk when Tadashi was trying to nurse him back to health. Also - at the end, Sunekosumi is supposed to have powers of "partial invisibility" according to my Yokai guide, so he was probably trying to hide a bit, while trying to let Tadashi know that Kato was making a comeback.
