Is it ridonculous for me to go to Bed Stuy?

im from england and i go to new york maybe once or twice a year for a few weeks. I wanted this time to go and see the broken angel house on the corner of downing and quincy but i wanted to know what people thought of the neighbourhood bed stuy where it was shot. ive heard good and bad things but cause its all the way in the middle of brooklyn, which i dont know as well as manhattan and it does have a manhattan grid system. I'm not the white chick whose worried about going into a prodominenly black neighbourhood, im the girl who doesnt want to get lost. and does any one know the nearest subway stop to this place?

oh and while im here does any one know where i can find the jam master jay memorial in queensboro??

Unfortunetly the Broken Angel home was demolished in late 2006 after a fire in the top tower started and violated many NYC building codes. However, if you'd still like to see the location, take the 4-5-6 line to Classon Avenue stop and walk 4 blocks south on Classon to get to Quincy. Make a right on Quincy and right where the street rounds the corner to Downing is where the location is.

The neighborhood itself is actually not that bad of an area in the Stuy. You'd feel perfectly safe walking around in the day.

I've never been to the Jam Master Jay memorial, but you're basically going the opposite direction since it's in Fresh Meadows, Queens. Just start asking when you get there.
