Awful short
I watched this last night and was appalled that it was even nominated, let alone won, the academy award. I am not offended by the language or violence, but am offended by the hackneyed, amateurish writing and awful, teeth-grinding performance by the young man on the train. I was very surprised to learn that the writer/director is an award-winning playwright. Either his plays are a lot more intelligent or the British aren't too picky about their theater. Granted, the Academy's picks for shorts are usually dubious and tend to favor big-name actors (Gleason was pretty good at least), but this film seems like what a 14-year-old boy would pick for best short. In fact, it seems like a fourteen-year-old wrote and directed it.
