Ending? *Spoilers*

I noticed that right when he accidentally drops the gun, it cuts to a wide shot with blood splatter on the wall that is in line with his head. I know he just killed the rabbit before that so it could be its blood, but the positioning of the blood made me think that he actually did kill himself and doesn't know it yet. Then the sound cuts out and he looks over as if he sees something. I thought he might be dead and is suddenly seeing his wife...

I'm probably wrong but did anyone else have similar thoughts?
