I saw an interview with David Schwimmer when the film was released here in the UK and he said it would need to be re-cut for the US, so i was just wondering if anyone had heard about any extra scenes or major cuts. I have seen the film many times and thought it was really good and was wondering why it should have any changes.

lol not to give too much away about my movie watching activities, but when i first started watching this movie online, it was the dubbed German version, which by itself doesn't seem too funny, but to hear Dylan Moran and Simon's dialogue (sp?) strictly in Deutsch (again... sp?) was so funny.... at least for the 3 minutes before I realized it was dubbed hahahahaha
shareI noticed that the announcers at the race measured everything in 'miles' even though the race was in London. I wonder if that was changed for here in the US? I thought it sounded kind of dumb. I mean, growing up here in the US, yes, we measure distances mainly in miles, but we also know what the metric system is and that most races are measured by 'k's and that in Europe that's the basic measurement system - why would the announcers at a London marathon talk about miles?!?
shareBecause the UK still measures in miles, gallons and stones (although officialy they also have the metric system, but I've never seen them use it). I think it is because of the British that America still uses miles fo measuring distances. The rest of Europe does use the metric system, but for some reason the UK likes to do things their own way. The also drive on the other side of the road and still have ponds instead of euro's, yet they are members of the EU. Please try to keep in mind that not al European countries are the same and have the same rules. :-)

Since I own the UK PAL DVD and have seen the USA Theatrical Version of the film, here are the scenes that were altered.
Original: Dennis (Simon Pegg) tries to get into his flat and realizing for the second time, he's forgotten his keys yells, "fu**"
USA Cut: Dennis yells, "Faaaaaaaaa!"
Original: In an attempt to help Dennis cope with losing Libby, Mr. Ghoshdashtidar (Harish Patel) tells him that what he remembers most about his departed wife is, "I remember all the fu**ing"
USA Cut: Mr. Ghoshdashtidar says "I remember all the humping."
Original: Libby (Thandie Newton) is showing Gordon (Dylan Moran) where the bathroom is and in a brief conversation, he mentions buying a pair of shoes that "Hurt like fu**."
USA Cut: Gordon says his shoes "Hurt like hell."
Original: While in Libby's Nice Buns bakery, upon hearing that Dennis left Libby at the altar, pregnant, a little old lady says to Dennis, "You co**".
USA Cut: The little old lady says, "You pr**k".
Both versions: In the scene where Gordon, Dennis, and Mr. Ghoshdashtidar try to fool the marathon committee into believing that they are running for the cause of 'Hapsburg's Syndrome', they mention that the symptoms involve outbursts of profanity to which Mr. Ghoshdashtidar begins shouting in incomprehensible gibberish, yet in both versions, a few of his words are actually bleeped out.
Original: In the final leg of the marathon, a reporter asks Dennis how he feels to which Dennis replies, "How the f**ck do you think I feel?"
USA Cut: This scene remained intact, making it the only scene where an F-bomb is used, except for a mouthing of the words *beep* me," when Dennis takes a look at the building where Whit (Hank Azaria) works.
I believe this covers everything!
What struck me as odd though is that the usual rules for a PG-13 film are that you're allowed to have either one use of the F-word or one scene of nudity, yet along with the one F-word scene, there's the whole locker room sequence where Hank Azaria shows his butt and two scenes where Dylan Moran shows his. It must just be regulated to female nudity I guess!

And I think that the nudity doesn't include the ass. I'm trying to think of examples, but I'm drawing a blank.
I also think I read somewhere that it all has to do with a time limit. Like you could use the f-word, but only once an hour. So if the movie is 2:30hours long, the f-bomb could be said 3 times--once from 0:00-1:00, the next from hours 1-2, and then the last from hour 2 til end.
Perhaps the same is with nudity?
I'm just thinking of Titanic where Kate Winslet showed her breasts, her ass, and the dropped the f-word, I think twice? And yet that was still PG-13.

When I watched it, I felt the word "humping" was terribly out of place in that scene. It would have been much better if they used their one *beep* there than anywhere else.
