THE WORST MOVIE

I was going to just respond to others, but had to start a new post to make sure people know that this is a BAD movie. do not waste your time. what a waste of good actors. what is Kathy Bates an Oscar winner doing in the crap.

reply

I couldn't agree more. It was poorly written, slow, predictable and just not funny. Hard to believe Danny Devito was involved.

reply

I agree 100%.

Wow!If I had a dollar for every time someone said that here.Just Wow is all I can say.

Yep- I saw this movie on a plane. It was bad- I couldn't believe Kathy Bates, Devito and Neve Campbell made it.

This movie wasn't bad. It is a bit predictable and standard, but it's still funny. Like the scene where De Vito and Bates are having sex in the guest bedroom and Livingston is in the closet looking for his watch and h4e has to sit there for several hours watching and listening to his parents have sex and talking dirty. Thats pretty funny. And he accidentally turns on Excalibur, Bates' vibrator and cant turn it off and they find him in the closet and you can see De Vito's erection shadow across Livingston's face!!!! Hysterical!!!! That must be the most awkward encounter....

Just to let you know that I'm not some ignorant pedestrian who doesn't understand quality movies, I did not want to ever see this movie when I first read the back of the DVD box when we received it at the video rental store I work at. It sounded terrible. I figured it would contain a tired, trite plot that would be infused with bland jokes and phoned-in acting. But I was pleasantly surprised that the movie is genuinely funny! Maybe it is in contrast to me presupposing that it would be SOOOOOO BAD that when I finally saw it, it softened the blow, or perhaps it's just a funny, silly movie. In any case it's till funny.

It's just one of those films that may not be original, insightful or great, but still entertaining.

"I chuckled here and there and even shed a tear in the end, but would I watch it again? Nope.

A movie can move you to tears (okay, tear) and you still call it a "waste"?

Though I certainly wouldn't call Relative Strangers a great movie, it had many worth while moments. The teaming of Bates and DeVito was inspired. I wonder if they'll reprise their roles in a future vehicle.

There are many hundreds of other titles that would more aptly qualify as "The Worse Movie", for instance: any movie starring Julia Roberts

Thank you! Now I'm not saying this movie was great, but a had some good laughs during this movie. I dunno, I guess maybe because my family is similar (my grandparents were alcoholic rednecks that argued all of the time and I'm almost a college graduate) that it seemed hilarious to me when they argued.
