Which Actors and Actresses are Republican?

I've been looking into this lightly for a while now, just which actors and actresses are Republicans. So far I've come up with the following people:
-Gary Sinise
-Sylvester Stallone
-Arnold Schwarzenegger
-Chuck Norris
-Robert Duvall
-Drew Carey
-Patricia Heaton
-Charlton Heston
-Richard Kiel
-Dwayne Johnson
-Dennis Hopper

Anyone got more to add?

Wow! some off those Celebrities I would have never known. Charles Barkley, Vincent Gallo, L.L. Cool J,Prince. Nothing wrong with it. But these are very liberal Celebrities.

reply

From my understanding Republican does not automatically mean conservative and Democrat does not automatically mean liberal either.

reply

Man Hollywood celebrities agree with the Republicans on economic issues but not on social issues, such as gay rights for examples. They are called RINOs - Republicans in Name Only. See also DINOs - Democrats in Name Only - who are also economic conservatives but social liberals.

reply

Charles Barkley considered running for governor of Alabama on Pardon the Interruption two years ago, and said he would run as a Democrat. So I'm not sure how reliable that list is.

Also, Vincent Gallo is the most conservative person I've ever heard of, so I don't see how you can say he's "very liberal."

Charles Barkley spoke at a Republican fundraiser in DC last year...The premise of his speech was thateven though he was born and raised in the south and many people assumed he was a democrat he associated his economic policies more closely to the republican party. However, he felt they needed to fix their social stance on many issues. He said he aligned himself more with a Colin Powell/John Mccain moderate conservative type..

reply

This website actually seems pretty accurate.

Some of the others I would have listed are on here...Bo DErek, Mike Piazza, Alex Rodriguez, Curt Schilling, Jessica Simpson and of course two of Hollywood's most well known republicans, Clint Eastwood and Bruce Willis...

reply

what are you talking about??

reply

The only thing I have to say, being to the left as i am, I don't care who is to the right or the left. I don't judge tv shows or movies based on the actor's political leanings. Who cares? Let them think what they want and say what they will. It ain't gonna change a thing as far as i'm concerned. Politics and entertainment are two different things.

reply

The point is not whether YOU care what their political leanings are, but that Hollywood cares. How many jobs have Republican-supporting actors lost because of Democrat-supporting filmmakers? What price a person's conviction?

reply

For anyone who might think this Hollywood reverse-McCarthyism thing might be exagerrated, should have a look at this http://www.hollywoodinvestigator.com/2003/benstein.htm. I may not agree with the politics, but I think what the WGA did to him was reprehensible,

reply

Nobody should be shocked about Hollywood's 'Mccarthyism'. For all its stars speaking out for noble causes, it is filled with snobs. But, I digress; there will always be groups that want to exclude others who are different.

Also Kelsey Grammer is a Republican. He mentioned wanting to run for office. Personally I'm sick of celebrity candidates. Say what you want about Reagan, he was elected by one of the widest margins in US history. With Jesse, And Arnold as Governors, it getting silly. Now Lynn Swann wants to be governor--I know not Hollywood, but still a celebrity.

As of late Hollywood is getting to political for my tastes. I hope I'm not the only one that wants Hollywoods outspoken pseudo-pundits to shut the #@&% up! I enjoy reading EW, in small part because it is pretty apolitical, but Rolling Stones seems, now, to be a political magazine.

reply

EW used to be pretty apolitical, but in the last issue, all 3 of the recommended movies on the "must list" for the week were anti-Bush or anti-American in some way (Bourne Ultimatum, No End in Sight, The Host). It was at that point that I decided that EW has officially jumped the political shark, as it were.

In case it hasn't already been mentioned, James Arness (of Gunsmoke fame) is a Republican. That discovery came as a disappointment to Lady Bird Johnson (Lyndon Johnson's widow), who was a Gunsmoke fan.

The late Buddy Ebsen was a Republican, too.

reply

There is a trend in Hollywood these days about political activism. It seems that a failing career tends to make a performer more vocal...Alec Baldwin, Susan Sarandon, Barbra Streisand, etc...

Funny how speaking up on a topic the big shots in the industry agree with, can put you back in the limelight, what a concept...

he was an evil malicious son of a bitch. he used creul means to stop co-star nancy culp..a strong good democrat from winning a congressial race by outing her as a lesbian. *beep* *beep*

reply

I thought "Homosexuality is an acceptable behavior"? If so, why are you upset that Ebsen "outed her as a lesbian"?
If someone outed me as a Conservative, I would be fine with that. I am not ashamed of it.

The name is Bundy... *Al* Bundy.

reply

Sounds like not all Democrats are as homosexually-friendly as they'd like people to think. That's a double standard if I've ever seen/heard/read one.

Mike Ditka is a Republican. I read somewhere that Emily Procter is a Rebuplican as well. (Don't know if it's true or not, though.)

As for Barkley, I saw him a "Real Time with Bill Maher" (aka.....three liberals pick on a Republican for about 45 minutes) and he said he was more of an independent but if he ever does run for office he said he'd most likely run as a republican. He told a story about how his mother yelled at him for supporting republicans because "They only help the rich" and Barkley said something to the effect of "But Mom, I am rich."

Exactly. A lot of so-called "conservative" actors are actually Libertarians.

I am watching this right now. An earlier comment said Vincent Gallo was the "most conservative"' actor ( so it's no surprise he's an R). Well, last I heard he was receiving explicit fellatio on film. These days Republicans are obsessed more with sex and gay bashing than anything else. They act like a nipple slip is worse than 9/11. I'm sure many would not consider Gallo so "conservative."

The idea that the US Republican Party is in ANY way fiscally conservative/market capitalist is a misconception/lie. They are mostly defined ( As they choose) by social "conservatism"/intolerance, fear/hate-mongering and big government socialism.

Libertarians are really the only ones who believe in capitalism, small government, and the freedom philosophy.

"Conservative" doesn't mean "prudish" in the political sense. Just because he does some extreme things doesn't nullify his political conservatism.

BTW, your views of Republicans is so *beep* ignorant. Way to lump millions of people into a small and narrowly defined box, you *beep* arse.

reply

It's wierd that most cool people in Hollywood just happen to be Republican.

Push it to the limit!

It is important to understand that in places like California and New York, Republicans are very different than, for example, Republicans from the Bible Belt.

I agree with the South Park thing.
And Dennis Miller is a Neo-Libertarian, that is close enough in my mind.

Actually try Parker is a Libertatrian and Matt Stone is a Republican. Also south Park is the only show that has President Bush as an character on some episodes that treat him with respect.
