Why are these movies so under the radar?

I rarely post on IMDB, but watch tons and tons of movies. These movies are fking rad! Wow, I'd never even heard of any of them. I saw the movie "terribly sad" and thought one of the characters (the one who plays Frank in Pusher) was a great actor. Read his profile and it talked about Pusher being his biggest movie. Then saw the IMDB ranking it in the 8s. I watched it and loved it. Just saw Pusher 3 (shows on instant netflix waiting for Pusher 2 to arrive) and thought it would be a letdown. But the second half of this movie is insane. Can't wait to see Pusher 2. Recommending these to all my friends.

PS Please make Pusher 4.

After the release and future success of Refn's 'Drive'; I would put money on a remake for the trilogy being etched up somewhere soon.

ps: If you're a hollywood producer reading this. *beep* off and don't try it.

Copenhagen underground is not much of interest. i guess people perceive it as something like "criminal activities in luxembourg, ahahahha"

The Pusher trilogy is very well known in Sweden at least.

reply

This trilogy is ok. The cinematography and the storytelling are not innovative in an way. Nothing out of the ordinary here. I still prefer Spang Olsen's movies, like Old Men in New Cars hehehe.

reply

Old Men in New Cars is terrible.

Pusher 1 is a masterpiece.

I'm Danish btw.

100% agreement!

The first Pusher installment delivers and ugly truth, so to speak, about Copenhagen drug world in the 90's and it describes Frank's descend in such a cruel manner. The interrogation scene in the end is so harsh and brutal in such a raw way, and without the use of gore or overly done violence. It's a spot on danish piece of work, whereas Old Men in New Cars can't even be compared to this.
