Did you like Alex or Nigel better? Spoilers of course

Because the characters in thi movie are so amazing this could be a very long thread.

I'm yet to decie but leaning towards Alex. Because or though he was an over-privilaged, arrogant *beep* he was still (I think) driven mad by Nigel, which means he must have had a moral centre of some sort. Unlike Nigel who was simply a psychopath. That's not without it's sympathies but we don't know how he got that way or why so it's harder to empathise. Whereas with Alex we know exactly why.

JESSIE There, now I cn change my ID as often as I damn well please.

I had some sympathy for Nigel, because it's pretty messed up when your mom has sex with you.

Not excusing anything he did, of course.

I guess alot of people didn't get this: Nigel's mom did not have sex with him, although Alex claimed that Nigel had intercourse with her corpse for the purpose of some templar ceremony. Alex was lying about the story, and Nigel was innocent.

Nigel, i definitely liked him more. And you have to watch the film again; Nigel was innocent and Alex was lying to get away with what he had done. Alex was the bad guy here, and even if he wasn't; i still would like Nigel alot better, as he was more sensitive than Alex.

reply

Completely disagree - Alex was not lying (much) and Nigel was the killer. At the end, he killed himself and continued on with his influence over Alex - Alex will go on to be the next Nigel - thus entering eternity.

Well, that film is quite complex, and it has been a long time since i have seen it. I guess I need to watch it again. i think it is one of those films that get better with each viewing, because of all the details and complexities that we don't always see the first time around. Like "Lost highway" for instance; I had to watch that many times before i understood it, and there are still things that aren't quite clear.
