Blanca and Gertrude were both killed. The corpse that the three girls see being buried is Vera after she starved to death in the library, and Hidalla realises that the Princes castle where she was raped is on the same property as the school. Therefore the school was built purely for his sexual desires. Hope that helps.
yes it helps now I understand why the persons with the fire torches, beyond the gate, did not went public denouncing the facts. that's sick. i just leaves out the fate of hidalla? where will she go after realizing that? some more info would have been grateful-
Blanka and Gertrude we never really know..probably they were both killed or turned into servants (which seemed like the worst thing for them)
The corpse being buried is of course...Vera's.
The point of the film? In my opinion it is that the arts, the fine arts, in general, are to provide satisfaction based on the performer's pain and suffering..a ballerina, a pianist, a paintor, a musician, a composer, they all spend tremendous amount of hours studying, practicing trying to create beauty as they suffer from hunger, physical pain, stress, sleeping their way to the top and so many other things...The film tries to depict such suffering through the lust of a Prince who every year (or so) rapes the prima ballerina as he gets aroused from seeing all the other girls dance...that's my point of view
