I'm greatly fearing this, and currently blessing the fact that Australia gets releases so late. I'm hoping that this will never wash up on our innocent shores.

I have an idea! This amazing revelation I had a few nights ago. It's strange but listen.
So, how about we take out all of the no name actors and replace it with people that are slightly well known. I dunno, I was thinking someone like Anthony Warlow? Maybe Linda Eder?
Next, we have to completely rewrite the plot. Make it less modern, and it has to include a fiancè and someone to go with Hyde (I think Emma and Lucy are nice names, but I think Lisa might work instead of Emma.)
Lastly, I say that we add in some music. Maybe some songs liked "I Need to Know"? How about we make the movie entirely about how no one is what they appear to be. We could even include a song called "Facade!" OH! And there could be a little romantic/suspenseful song between Hyde and Lucy called "A Dangerous Game?"
Just a few ideas I had.

I have to believe that the world doesn't disappear just because I close my eyes.

Sheer brilliance, I tell you!

Well... yeah... unfortunately most of the movies do that.. just an example: KAREN Utterson, from another upcoming J&H film. But on the official website, they said something about trying to stay true to the novels... Yeah, all right...

when professor poole called on "mr. jekyll" and "miss utterson," i was thinking "i did not go through seven years of evil medical school just to be called 'MR.' thank you very much!" i couldnt stand it!

oh, and you cant expect them to stay true to the novel when they probably havent read it. the way they wrote these characters gave the impression that all they did was sparknotes the main characters and then played a game of darts to select which name went to what character. and the only woman in the whole thing was the maid that witnessed carew's murder, and there was nothing about wanting to be someone else in the novel. by doing this, they have reduced one of the most dark and twisted characters of literary history to nothing more than a case of a slightly split personality.

i was majorly pissed.

Dude, it wasn't supposed to be a carbon copy of the novelLA (far too short to be a novel man). It was a film HOMMAGE utilizing one of the most famous themes to make a modern day adaptation. It also expanded on the story by throwing in issues more relevant to todays audiences.

I thought it was a unique interpretation, especially since our values nowadays are so material and drugs are so prevalent (and mad controversial) in the medical industry.

But in the end it was a classic horror story re-interpreted into the more modern evolution of what the horror genre has become since the 1880's. And frankly, anything written in 1886 that we still know about is OBVIOUSLY going to be a touch better than anything people are pooping out nowadays.

I hate when pretention gets in the way of just sitting back and enjoying a good horror flick.

Sorry if i offend you by saying this, because to me it seems blatently obvious and I am only bothering to reply to this as I found the tone of your comment to be rather indignant. In an attempt to identify with a percieved injustice, it seems that "bentleytheyeti" (or is it "Dr. bentleytheyeti"?) feels discriminated against as a 'real' Doctor by none other than a ficticious Professor Poole and her failure to address undergraduate students, such as "Mr. Jekyll" and "Miss Utterson" with the title of Dr.

Im happy to stand corrected, but I would think that the average medical student in a modern university being taught Western medicine has enough privelege and status already that they dont need to be prematurely given the title they are studying 6-7+ years to achieve. The Mr/Miss/Ms and Mrs of this world whom are doctors in waiting retain their regular titles as its a reflection of their undergraduate status. To be called a Doctor and to have it as your title then there is a reasnoble expectation by society that the individual to whom it applies has mastered to a level of phD a certain body of knowledge. Prior to that mastery, one cannot say they are a master or be expected to display the qualities of one. I did say from the outset that this was a pretty simple scenario and I'm genuinely surprised to be encountering this degree of absurdity from an educated individual.

As tempted as I am to prise open the latter comments of Dr. bentleytheyeti; comparing this recent incarnation to the 1880's masterpiece, I know it will achieve little more than a thinly veiled bashing for which other posters have already done a fine job.

woooooow...

the "seven years of evil medical school" was a quote from austin powers, genius.

i have no idea what you're talking about.

and to the post above it, i ask you, you think what i said was pretention? and what you saw was good horror? well, if that's your opinion, that this was good horror, then i'm not going to bash you, but don't label my opinions as pretentious when the original j&h novella happens to be my favorite work of fiction and this movie was just one of several abyssmal attempts in recent years to copy the story and not put forth an honest effort to stay true to the story.

that's just what i thought. i wasn't trying to come off like some a-hole who just wanted to rant about a film he didn't like. sorry if i sounded that way. or if i sound that way now.

reply

... um... i'm pretty sure he didn't like the movie either. And his post was just referring to the fact that you don't call a med student Dr. anything untill they get their PhD.

Yess, Masster.

That's "bollocks," not "bullocks."

reply

Unless he's referring to the department store, then it's "Bullocks".

reply

You mean used to be "Bullocks", now it is just another crappy Macy's

reply

No, I meant "Bullocks". Just because it's Macy's now does not negate the fact that Bullocks once existed. The OP titled this thread "Bullocks", and that's what the name of the dept store was. Not Macy's.

reply

And would be a better store if it were still Bullock's....

Great, now we gotta do the rest of this thing with Danny Elfman!

reply

Since I see no mention of a department store in the OP's post, then I guessing he means this was sh-t and he mean't bollocks. Maybe it's a banned word where he posts from (like twat is bleeped for UK users, but okay for others).

Ya got me. "Bored" - sorry, i was tired. Can't believe i posted twice on this crappy movie's thread.

reply

I haven't even seen it. I just came to check the rating to see if it was worth buying on sale, and the comments convinced me not to.
