I've gotta say, when I came across this movie, I figured it would be lame and another 'Jekyll and Hyde' ripoff (I've been on a J'n'H kick, go figure) and overlooked it. Then I caught the trailer on YouTube and decided, hey, it looks kinda gore-filled with a cute main character and some sex. Might as well try it out.

And interestingly enough, one of the factors in that were the reviews. I don't think I've seen a movie so solidly split down the middle like this (unless you count SoaP)--here and on movie rating sites, I found that people either loved it or hated it. Is it really that kind of movie? I suppose--if you don't like the cinematography or the acting or the way the story flows, it'd be very hard to like the whole way.

Tho after having just watched it now, I gotta say--this is an insanely friggin' AWESOME movie that I want to have right now (and the MUSIC! I wish there was a soundtrack to this, such awesome songs...).

Thoughts on reviews or just whatever you think of the movie?

This movie sucks giant pulsating arse. It does nothing but injustice to the original story of Jekyll and Hyde, it has no linear story line to speak of, there is too much darkness, not enough gore for the audience they are targeting, the actors are crap, the filming was crap and the music was also, I am afraid, crap. I rented it because I was like "Hey, I love Jekyll and Hyde" - the book, some of the other movies....it should be cool, updated a bit but I'll go with it.

BLLLUUURRRGGGHHHH!!!!

If you gave this movie 10 / 10 I suggest you visit the video store more, there are much better movies out there like "Final Destination 3" *shudder-Gag*

This movie plays out like some 15-year-old kid's, sad alienated fantasy.

The actors couldn't even carry a convincing car-commercial.

The music is cliched and generic.

The plot is laughably unbelievable and tired.

Calling the characters one dimensional would be VERY generous.

I really couldn't take seriously the opinion of anyone who enjoyed this hack-job.

I didn't think the acting was all that bad but the rest of it, I completely agree with. I had high hopes and was left severely disappointed. For the most part, it's just laughable.

I SO want the soundtrack too! It's more than amazing. An seriously, the main character is reason enough to watch! HOT!

I don't fall into either camp. I thought it was an ok movie, with decent enough acting that gave a commonly used story a decent enough treatment. The cinematography was mostly very good and the score was effective, but the "music video" segments were less than stellar. If you're a Jekyll completist, see it. If you like movies where killers don't really need a movie, see it. If you're in the mood for some blood and guts, see parts of it.

Not nearly as bad as some people make out. Fine, if you don't expect something like the book. I'd say it's a 3.5/5 or a 4/5, somewhere around there.

its set in modern times, of course it isnt like the book.

i loved it... and hated it. it was well made and sucked some serious badness. i would not watch it again or refer it to someone else, but i dont regret watching it.

and the music was ammmmaaaaazzziiinnng

I get the feeling that the higher reviews are shill accounts to falsely inflate the score. One of the other threads had a whole bunch of people praising the movie very highly. I checked out their accounts and all four of them had only posted in that thread and nothing else.

If people really thought that this was a 10/10, I am glad that they enjoyed it. If they are just making fake profiles to make their friends movie look better, I have an issue with that.

I checked this movie out because it was cheap on Ebay and I've also been on a Jekyll and Hyde kick. This movie kind of sucked, but I did enjoy some parts of it.
