Role of the Communist Party?

Has anyone read the script? I am interested in the filmmakers' "take" on the role of the ILD and American Communist Party in publicizing the case and supporting the defense. Scottsboro was a powerful image for a generation of the US Left. I hope they treat their role fairly.

Also looking forward to see Sobieski play a great villain in the passion play that is American race relations. Will she win any sympathy from the audience? (Lord, I hope not.)

The story covers Sam Leibowitz coming down form new york to rep the boys in their retrial. He was approached by the ILD and that is covered in the film. The ILD is not shown as a vilan of any sort.

If, by the story's end, Lelee has won any sympathy, then she has misplayed her character, something she is too talented to do.

Azura Sky and her character, on the other hand, just might inspire the audience to tears. I won't spoil the surprise with any more elaboration.

I know the Communist Party is mentioned in the movie, but I can not say how extensive the treatment is. Generally speaking, I do believe the production attempted to be as faithful as possible to the true version of events.
