Get Smart (2008) RANT A.K.A. Review

love this series. I'd have to say that it's my favorite 60's or 70's show cause of how creative and inventive it was.
I have The Complete Series box set which I could all night. There were two movies in the 80's that I hope to see "The Nude Bomb", which I've seen a little bit of it but wasn't really that funny to be honest, and "Get Smart Again" which I haven't seen. Another reason why I didn't like "The Nude Bomb" was cause Agent 99 wasn't in it. And then, in the 90's, they attempted to bring it back. This time, the show would center around The Smart's son (played by Andy Dick. Yeah, that Andy Dick). By the way, I thought the Smarts had twins. lol Anyway, in the new show, Max was now the chief and 99 got some government job but I forgot what it was. This show didn't last that long at all and for good reason.

Fast forward to 2008 where we get a movie that I was and wasn't looking forward to. I was looking forward to it cause I liked everybody in it. But, I wasn't looking forward to it cause I know how these movies based on t.v. shows work and they usually screw them up. This movie does a couple of things right but messes up majorly on a lot of other things.

Do your homework. You can tell the people behind this movie liked the show and watched a couple episodes. They got the names right, (Maxwell Smart, Agent 99, The Chief, Agent 13, Hymie) but that's about all they got right.
They sort of got Max right. Sort of. They made him look way to dumb in this movie. And the parts where he tries to show he's smart aren't believable cause at this time, we've already seen him do so many stupid things. I think the shoe phone is used only once. Really? His most popular gadget is used only once?

They messed up 99 in this movie which is one of the biggest flaws. She's incredibly mean to Max throughout most of the movie and when they do get together at the end, again, it's not believable cause most of the movie is her thinking she's better than him.

They actually did an alright job with The Chief. I don't have any real complaints with him. You only see his office once and u never get the classic "Max and 99 in the Chief's office" moment. Other than that, they did a pretty good job with him.

Siegfried's barely in it which is amazing since he and Max are archenemies. That and he talks all slow and boring now. Siegfried was always known for his accent which is why it was pretty lame when they took that away. I did like that cameo by Bernie Kopel (the original Siegfried) though.

They messed up Agent 13 too but I'm okay with it cause he's played by Bill Murray which is pretty cool to see.

Headquarters looks futuristic and I just didn't didn't the look of it. The Cone Of Silence is awful. It's a big blue futuristic orb things, it's kind of hard to describe them, that goes over their heads so they can have the classic "What?" moments.

I thought it was pretty funny when Larabee called Max "Maxie Pad". That was kind of funny.

I'm sure there are other funny parts but I can't really think of them now. I heard there's a possibility in there being a sequel and if it does happen, watch the show. Who is Max? Who is 99? Do your homework on the t.v. show, comic book, cartoon, etc., then make a movie about it otherwise it makes u look like fools.
