I did not laugh one time.It simply was not funny.Watch the original series with the great Don Adams if you want to laugh.This was just trash.

shareCompletely disagree. Big fan of the original--watched it growing up-- but LOVED the reboot. Am watching it again as I type this. Steve Carrell was perfectly cast as Max, and Anne Hathaway was the perfect 99. The jokes were hilarious, and there needs to be a sequel.

Comedic aspects taken from the original series fell flat for me in this movie. Just a couple of examples...
Max requested the Cone of Silence before the Chief started giving his briefing. It would've been funny if the Chief revealed vital information before Max asked for the Cone of Silence. Max requesting the Cone of Silence right off the bat seemed forced. Even Carell's request of it looked awkward and was missing naive confidence which Don Adams conveyed (I don't expect Carell to be like Adams; he needed to be instructed/directed to do more with that line delivery).
Another example is when Max would say, "Missed it by that much." I groaned when he said it, because the writers didn't seem to try hard enough to come up with a clever use of the phrase.
This movie had potential, but was underdeveloped. Some of the cast was great. Long before this movie came out I thought Patrick Warburton would make a good Hymie, so it was satisfying to see him actually play that role. Too bad he only got a cameo.
It is a trashy remake of Johnny English. Horrible.
