Absolutely Stinkin' Brilliant !!!!!!!!!

if you are a baseball fan, you will enjoy this movie.

if you go to plays, you will enjoy this movie.

if you are an avid reader, you will enjoy this movie.

if you are a Michael Keaton fan, you will really enjoy this movie.

if you are all of the above ( and there are a few fortunate souls out there who fit this bill ), this movie will immediately move into your all time Top 5 without a doubt or hesitation - it is that stinkin' brilliant.

agreed. I have one to add thought - if you're a Red Sox fan, the game footage of the entire last inning will be painful to watch.

At least you Sox fans have the greatest comeback in history in the 2004 playoffs to wash the taste of 1986 out of your mouth.

I am a Royals fan and my wife is a Mariners fan. All we have is:

a) A World Series title with an asterisk
b) The best record in baseball history squandered against the suddenly "lovable" Yankees (gaw-damn them!) post 9-11.

But I just put this flick in my Blockbuster queue. I am all of the above in terms of my loves, and the fact that so many IMDb users hate this movie is an outstanding endorsement in my book.

That may be true...
I'm a Red Sox fan, living in Boston. Even though we won the World Series in 2004, that doesn't make up for Game 6 in 1986. That seriously did damage to our hearts that we can never bring back. It was somewhat painful to watch footage from that game. Oh, and EVERYONE in Boston remembers what they were doing that night. We'll never forget it.

Funny, I'm none of the above, but I still think this movie is stinkin' brilliant. What appealed to me was the confluence of 3 different stories (the game, the play, the playwright's life) which all came together in a thrilling, climactic moment. The movie could've been about stamp collecting and I still would've enjoyed it; I just like well-planned stories.

Keaton and Downey; baseball and theatre; despair and hope; great pairings can make a great movie.

Batman and Iron Man, realizing that at the core they are the same, despite leading two very different lives.
