Low budget, big heart

Flywheel may have been produced for just $20,000, but that doesn’t stop it from having a big heart — that’s also in the right place. This was the Kendrick brothers first movie, and while it’s nowhere near as polished looking as their later films, I still think Flywheel has the purest story. I love Christian films, and it’s a delicate act mixing everyday life with faith and not having it come off as contrived. In that regard, Flywheel’s faith message, while direct, seems the most real and relaxed of all their movies.

I understand why some can’t get past the low budget and volunteer acting; it distracted me - for a bit - the first time I saw the movie. But if you allow the story to play out, you’ll find it smooths over any rough edges.
