I haven't seen this movie yet, but I came across it and wondered if it is somehow based (probably loosely) on the 1968 movie Candy, or even the book that movie is based on. Does anyone know?

It's adapted from Luke Davies's novel entitled Candy: A Novel of Love and Addiction. Luke Davies also wrote the script and served as a consultant on the film.
