Days of Heroin and Daisies?

While watching "Candy" I had the feeling that it was a new version of "Days of Wine and Roses". A lot of elements are similar: growing dependence, flowers, poems, family, a child... Even the same sad ending for a couple in love with each other but unable to stay together because they know that if they resume their relation alcohol/drugs will reappear.

Nobody felt the same?

I've never seen the film (it's on my 'to watch' list) but I love the way you phrased it! 'Days of Heroin and Daisies'- I might nick that for the title of my autobiography and if it becomes a best-seller, I'll credit you for it!

"Those were the days of juice."

Yeah, but Jack Lemmon didn't end up washing dishes in a greasy spoon and it's an open question whether Lee Remick ever got sober.
Candy was a much sadder film to me. Maybe because alcohol has much more social acceptance. You don't necessarily have to deal with criminals if you're an alcoholic.
