george lopez's accentless english

I was surprised that George Lopez had no Spanish accent in this film, unlike other roles in which he speaks with a noticeable Spanish accent (as he did in his sitcom "George Lopez" on TV). So someone clarify something for me: does he in fact have an accent in his everyday speech, or does he affect an accent for certain Mexican-American characters?

He definitely uses it for certain characters he plays and for bits in is stand-up but otherwise he speaks perfect English with no hint of a Spanish accent.
