More like this?

I caught this on BBC4 the other night and was completely mesmerised by it. I thought all of the aspects of the film were excellent - from characterisation to cinematography. The only element I thought was weaker was that I couldn't help feeling throughout the film that it was going to have an entirely predictable ending... and then it didn't! So refreshing.

I was just wondering whether anyone can recommend any more Iranian films. Knowing nothing at all about the country's cinema, I have no idea whether this is in any way typical. Is this an 'arty' film for Iran; does it have a more mainstream industry as well. Any thoughts or pointers would be most welcome.

Thanks...

PS. I hadn't seen Farsi script before, only heard it spoken, isn't it beautiful?

I've seen 7 of these suggestions and I'm literally following your path as I enjoyed all but 1 of them. Offside seemed pointless. Unfortunately, they aren't all available to me in region 1 format, but I'm trying. Thanks for the post, truly!
