Please correct me if I am wrong but....

They were meant to throw the ashes into the air at Uluru right? Which is Ayer's Rock...

Well.. THEY WEREN'T ON AYERS ROCK when they threw it... they broke down halfway there.. And that place - it isn't ayer's rock. Ayer's Rock is a huge red edifice if you srand on it you can see ofr miles and it is very high up...

so.. now Aki would be very mad i would say. did the Australian tour guides rip off the japanese actors? (they carried them half way to the centre of the earth..)

Well, I, too, want to know why Aki's ashes were thrown there rather than at Uluru.
Is it what happened in the original novel also??
Or.. maybe... did the Australian traveling board forbid them to shoot the film at the famous sight?
Anybody know???

I read somewhere that the directors gave up on shooting on the rock itself because it was always covered in tourists... LIKE DIRTY ANTS AND BUGS!!!!!!!
