The Secret Window from a Writer's Point of View **SPOILER**

As a writer myself, I always like to read books and watch movies about writers and this movie is most certainly about a writer and his internal workings.

At first, you could see that Depp's character was working out a story that just wouldn't come-- or whose ending he would just wouldn't allow himself to conceive of. (Does Stephen King have more than one wife?)

Things got started when Depp as writer was accused of plagiarizing a crotchety and creepy man's story. The full story had already been written a long time ago and published in Ellery Queen Magazine yet as the writer was in the middle of a divorce, it seems like psychologically he just wants to re-do the ending. And personal forces keep pushing him to re-do the ending with himself as the lead character.

As a writer myself, I can identify with the forces that push you toward writing a book or short story in the first place and giving them both the momentum and the conclusion that your mind requires...

When I watched the movie, I was not aware that it was based on a Steven King short story so was not prepared for some of the gruesomeness...

I need to watch this movie again to get all the nuances. (I am not used to King's way of writing for one thing.) I made the mistake of watching it on t.v. They stretched a half-hour movie into a two-hour movie, which meant that there were commercials every 5 minutes! I never saw such a thing! Anyway, when I saw the lay of the land I started to cut out the commercials and I look forward to watching the movie again.
