What would you like to see in Clerks 3?

if it ever happened..

I am not sure they could make a Clerks III. The movie ended with them entering a new phase of their lives. Basically they grew up, which seems to negate a need for another movie, at least in my mind.

it would have to deal with randal's life now that dante has becky and a kid

Yea, if he were to make a Clerks 3, I imagine it would center around Dante trying to balance life as a businessman, Father, and Husband....dealing with finding time for all three. It would fit the theme of the first two movies, Dante trying to deal with two women (Wife, Daughter). It would also fit with the idea that most of Kevin's movies are his way of dealing with his real life issues. I would think it is difficult for him, with all his various business dealings, movies, appearances, Smod stuff. Plus being a Father and Husband. So Dante, in form, could be the reflection of Kevin trying to juggle those three things in his life.

And Randal being self centered, complaining that Dante doesn't have enough time to just "pal around" with him like they did 10 and 20 years ago. Plus him dealing with finding his place in the world, being 40-something, still trying to be a teenager. If done right, it could work.

I saw Clerks when it first hit VHS, and I was in my early 20s, dealing with a retail job...trying to still be a kid, not sure what I was doing. So even as funny as I thought the movie was, it was very close to home.

I was sure Clerks 2 wouldn't relate to me at all, being in my early 30s at the time...I figured "This is about the two guys still working a dead end job...that's not really me anymore.". But again, that movie hit close to home. I was in a marriage where I only did it because I was "supposed to", finally got out of that marriage and ended up with an old friend, who is really the love of my life, had a daughter...and was dealing with my best friend of 20 years back in my life after a short absence, during my previous marriage. So it was very close to home.

Now I am nearing 40, dealing with being an attentive Father, Husband, trying to start my own business, and working my job....AND trying to just "pal around" with my friend. It's a battle at times, I want to be a good Father, Husband, yet bring home the money, and have time to myself....there simply isn't enough time in the day.

I would love to see a Clerks 3. I think, while it's going back to the well, and I have generally liked all of Kevin's movies. Clerks, to me, has always been his best work. He does best when he is telling his own story about his own struggles and difficulties.

I agree 100%. I know I complain about useless sequels. But the rough idea you outlined is a solid start for clerks 3. If only it would happen.

They grew up? I doubt Randal changed. They are still clerks. Now owning the shop instead of working for a boss. It's still the same work. They can go on producing to Clerks XVII if you ask me.

Clerks 3, in a feature film format, will never happen. That is if what Smith said about only making one more big picture is true. He could turn around 5 years from now and want to get back to it where Clerks III is the first thing he makes. The problem is that Clerks 3 has way more potential to be sad than funny and I don't think the appeal of the first two movies was ever two men trying to balance their lives. It's about two guys trying to pass the time in their futile jobs, talking **** and this leads to some great comedy. Sure there's pathos in there too, but mostly comedy.

The most logical course of action for Clerks 3 ,IF it were to ever be made, would be to have Dante in charge of Randall or Randall in charge of Dante. That would be an interesting twist on the dynamic and it could give an undercurrent of begrudgery to the friendship.

Still, Jay and Silent Bob at 40 still hanging around outside the place of business would be pretty sad admittedly.

I want to see them in another setting, another form or customer service.

like a supermarket job. It'll start out with quick stop and rest video going bankrupt as people aren't really going to them as much anymore. Plus they owe money so they loose out even though they own the stores. So they look for another form of retail, a supermarket.

Randal would be hitting on all the young checkout girls as well as hot customers... And failing. Dante wants to be responsible but as usual Randal is lazy. Dante also wants to go back to school and try's to convince Randal too and by the end they both do which would end the trilogy with them growing up. We see a glimpse of their futures of being business men, and as usual Randal is the same and so on.

as someone who works in a supermarket that's what I'd like too see.

Clerks 1 - convenience stores, video store
Clerks 2 - fast food restaurant
Clerks 3 - supermarket

Or if not a supermarket, a cinema? Making fun of 3d movies, twilight and such.

A new set of clerks, since Dante and Randall now run Quik Stop...I'd love to see Kevin's take on the hipsters and Facebook lovers of today.

I have tons of amusing stories that would fit right in.

welp looks like he announced it lunchboxattacks, and it's going to be his final film. Repent SINNER!

Well since it's been announced that there will be a Clerks 3 , here is what I'd like to see ( although it won't happen) : Dante and Becky have a set of twins a boy and a girl named Luke and Leia, Randall falls in love with Becky's sister , played by Zoe Saldana, they get married, Marijuana is legalized in NJ and Jay and Silent Bob become bllionaires by creating a brand of hydroponic weed called "Snoochie Boochie" The End

Boston and Philly love to slander us, but they don't have as many fans as us

More of what happened in Clerks 2. I still think that number 2 was Kevin Smith's strongest script with very funny characters and real angst in their lives. I can watch this movie anytime and it is a real pick me up if feeling a bit blue.

If he does indeed make this movie sir, then he has to have the tightest script, the best story, top notch actors and Jay and Silent Bob!!!!

I think Seth Green should play Jay

reply

Nah, he's too short for Jay.

It was a jab at the studios, they wanted him to play Jay in Mallrats

In Clerks 3, many of Randall's illegitimate kids (from screwing high school girls) have grown up and are now all retard strong. They begin to terrorize Randall at the Quick Stop, going as far as making him watch the extended versions of the three LOTR movies consecutively. By the end, Randall is so tired of watching the Hobbits walking that he can't move him own legs. This spurs his own kids to call him Crippy Boy.

Also, I know it's a little vague but I hope it resembles the first one more than the second. I could do without another donkey sex show...
