Don't waste ur time or money

What a piece of *beep* Horrible movie, lame ass story and bad acting, except for Meredith Baxter who was surprisingly good

reply

Agreed. I'm a huge fan of the comic and I was sorely disappointed with this.

reply

Third.

I was hoping this movie would have been more down-to-earth and I could relate to it in some way/shape/form. No different then any other stereotypical gay movie out there.

Well, everyones entitled to their opinion - speaking as a Brit who had not come across the strip this was based on I had no reference point to begin with so went into the movie "cold" shall we say, I thoroughly enjoyed the film, and the lead actor (Letterle) was just right, in my opinion...whilst no classic, this was far better than a lot of dross Ive paid good money to see, it kept me entertained for 90 minutes and thats what I hope to get from a movie, But then I wasn't expecting a Gay classic which it appears some were...I read on IMDB that this film was shot in 2 weeks, in which case they did a remarkably good job...

Hmm, after reading your post I'm shaking my head and wondering why you even went to see it. Did you not know what it was about?!? If this was the case then I would suggest in the future to look up and check out the movies online before you go and see them. There are several good sites to do this, this site is good as well as the site for the movie theater that you are going to. If this was a last minute idea, then ask the people at the box office. If they made it sound good to you, then after you realized what type of movie it was you could have walked out. Why you stayed is beyond me.
I'm sorry that you feel that we need healing. Actually there are probably a lot that do need healing, just not the healing you are thinking of. I will admit there was a time I seeked such healing and after one and a half horrible years I finally realized that I am just as God made me to be, a Gay man

....and it's people like you who make me glad that I'm gay...and glad that I have intelligence....unlike yourself

No, no..."cruelty." I always think that has a nobler ring to it.

Maybe the homophobic post was by Chester Baer, the gay Republican.

Well, like I said in another post, the commentary states that Daniel Letterle orig. read for the part of Punch, and for various reasons was offered the part of Ethan. They then had to make Punch reeeeallly young. Letterle is actually younger than the age of Ethan in the movie. Since I've been reading the strip for 15 years, the real Ethan sould be well into his 30s. The strip charcter has dated guys even older! Unfortunately, movie making on a slim budget doesn't always turn out as planned. I liked it, didn't love it.

I have to agree with the other British poster, I watched this movie with no idea that there was a comic strip. I enjoyed it, it was refreshing to see a gay romcom without the lead falling for a straight guy, or some straight girl falling for the lead. It was also refreshing to see a gay movie that was so light and fun, no dying lovers, abused teens or suicidal closet guys.

it simply was what it was, a fun throw-a-way romcom.

My boyfriend and I rented it a few days ago, started it, but didn't finish. We gave it another chance tonight and loved it!

Yes, the acting's bad. Yes, the story could be a little better, but overall, it's so cute! And the ending.. ah... I loved it.

We'll be buying it soon.

Good luck.

i never read the comic, but after this mmovie, I don't ever plan on searching any out in the future. I found this movie to be completely revolting and tedious. Now, speaking as a homosexual (so don't think Im a phobe or anything), if ever there was a gay guy that needed an extremely violent and painful hate crime commited against him, Ethan Green is that guy!

why does every gay comedy try to drill into your head that the life's goal for every homosexual on Earth is to cram as many penises in any oriface of their bodies as they can, in as little time as possible? these guys were complete whores, every single one of them! I hope they all get syphillis.

And Meredith Baxter - what in the HELL were you thinking?!?!?! Other than, "Oh, I haven't done any not-made-for-tv movies ever in my career, so why not start with this offensive piece of trash?" I hope she at least got paid well, but considering the production value, I'm guessing she didn't.

I've never seen or heard of the comic strip, either, and I LOVED this movie. I liked it much better than another gay movie I've seen recced all over the place - "Were the World Mine" - which I found dull and boring.

I don't think there was anything I didn't like about this movie, though. Loved Daniel Letterle and David Monahan, loved the Hat sisters, and thought Shanola Hampton and Meredith Baxter were great too.

A big thumbs up from me.

I just watched it. It really didn't seem as if the actors were interested in the film. They were just kind of "bleh" about it.
