How does the character of Lila maintain this sense of innocence even though she (Vahina) is saying very provocative, erotic things??
shareI think throughout the film just the looks and physicality of the actress help to keep her innocent. She looks very young and has a child-like quality about her. It's a true mark of her acting ability to keep up the 'innocent' look with such dirty lines. If they had picked a different actress with more experience in her face and in her eyes then it wouldn't have worked.
So I think it's mainly due to Vahina's acting that the character comes across as sweet as innocent.
These people exist in real life. I know a very attractive 17 year old girl who explicitly discusses her desires with both males and females, singuarly and in groups, her methods of self stimulation.....and yes......she is a virgin.
She is actually terrified of real sex, preferring to live her sex life in a fantasy world with her toys.
Not too disimilar to Lila actually.
a good example is the movie "smooth talk"(1985). laura dern is the teenager who isn't used to the attention of boys even though her body is grown up she isn't really processing what is happening. Lila has the same problem.
