It would be cool if imdb could have a "more like this" feature where you could check out some more films on teenage love etc.

One thats a bit similar is Stealing Beauty. After her mother commits suicide, nineteen year old Lucy Harmon travels to Italy to have her picture painted. However, she has other reasons for wanting to go. She wants to renew her acquaintance with Nicolo Donati, a young boy with whom she fell in love on her last visit four years ago. But after a small sexual encouter with him she realises that all he wants is sex and ends up with his cousin. The serene artsy music plus the beautiful sexual backdrop of Italian countryside = one beautiful movie.
share"Whats up with love" Made in Indonesia around 2000 I think. Same sort of story and themes, not quite the dramatic ending and the sexuality is heavily toned down to almost non-existent.
There's some Swedish movie I remember, about some budding film maker in the 50s, falls in love with his young actress who is very similar to the Lila character, difference is she's had many boyfriends/lovers.
WOW! I can't believe you just mentioned 'Stealing Beauty' in relation to this movie. They are 2 of my fav movies of all time....and i never really saw the linkage, just thought it was my personal movie taste. Thanks for opening my eyes. Some other movies that I can think of similar would be:
-Speak (with Kristen Stewart)
- Onegin (with Ralph Fiennes) and
- Somersault (2004- Australian movie)

Lila reminded me a lot the character of Mena Suvari in American Beauty.
Girls who bluff a lot about her sexuality and at the end both are innocent virgins.
It may be obvious, but I can't help comparing this film to Chasing Amy. If by a slight chance you have not seen it, it packs a similiar punch.

I forgot which year it was made...sometime early 90s. Anyways it is also French and I thought about it the whole time I watched this movie. They have a very similar appeal!

Jeez, I can't believe no one mentioned of "Cinema Paradiso (1988)."
It's one of my favorite movies of all time, and it'll top Lila Says on innocence/love. If you have not seen it yet, you're in for a real treat.
Crazy/Beautiful is very similar to this, check it out.
