An one night stand dreamed for lifetime

Artistically, I liked this film OK.
That said, the story is complete cliche and disturbing.
It's formulated with ingredients to make audience sad.
Complete isolation, loneliness, one sided love, deaths.

I don't think the little girl's infatuation a REAL LOVE.
We all have such adolescent crushes.
But following it like the way she did?!?!?!
She's a modern Cidellela not looking for a princess on a white horse, but a mature male figure.
The guy came to her life just at the right time.
She would have loved ANYONE with similar characteristics.

I personally wouldn't accept a girl's affection with such motivation.
If it was my daughter i would slap her butt twice and ground her for months.

I'm also disturbed and freshly surprised by the facts that the director/main actress is female.

This is a remake of an old Louis Jourdan - Joan Fontaine movie. Pretty ageless story of redemption the hard way.

I thought I was renting the 1948 version with Joan Fontaine but somehow wound up with this adaptation.

I expected the man the main character was so in love with to be great looking. He was quite average, certainly not the kind of man a young teen would obsess over. And the weird thing, he never seemed to age, despite the years that pass. Maybe that is because the woman (whose name I don't even know) always saw him the same?

Anyway, I had a hard time keeping my eyes open after the first 45 minutes. I'm going to rent the 1948 version and hope it's better. It came highly recommended by my mother, who is a great admirer of movies made in the 1940's.
