100 years ago tonight


R.I.P to all those who took part in the truce and to those who died in the war. 

What the filmmaker did not (and probably could not) research was any instances of these soldiers revisiting each other after the war, as they had exchanged addresses and photos with that intent.

Those type of records would probably be scattered -- however if he uncovered individual names perhaps he could look at genealogical records and hope to track down some private household record collections to that effect.


I doubt very many of these brave lads survived or had the desire to do such a thing after the armistice four years later.

The director of the film is actually considering a sequel for this purpose.

I have heard this story since the early 1960's. They have made other movies about this in I could not find them. I tried to get a copy because I have been a player and a coach for over 60 yrs here in the US.

Then I saw this movie they hardly showed them playing football because it was really a very minor part in this story that I never thought of before.

This move is a work of art. It's a beautiful Christmas Story very well made.
