Good escapist thriller ruined by the 'music'

I was not certain while watching the film whether they were playing real music or electronically generated noise, so I looked at the credits and two people are credited with the music, which was played by the Slovak Symphony Orchestra. I question why the makers of some films and TV shows feel compelled to fill every moment of the sound track with a loud discordant racket thus drowning out any speech. Why would the actors even need to learn their lines as no one can hear what they are saying. I was unable to follow the dialog and the plot in the second half for the blaring trumpets and trombones, and the thump, thump thump of silence filler. To say that it was horrible is putting it mildly. I am guessing that it was meant to be mood music, as if we have to be told when the scene is suspenseful, romantic or funny - that should be the actors' job. If they MUST fill the sound track with noise, at least tone it down so that it does not drown out the speakers. Less is more.
