The Most Pretentious Trash Ive Ever Seen

I watched an hour of this movie and wanted to gouge my eyes out with a broken pencil from the very first "dialogue" scene. Holy *beep* was this bad. Did David Slade direct the actors by saying "be the least convincing and least believable you can. At no point shiuld you do or say anything that would lead the audience to care about you or feel like youre real people."? Ive seen student films with characters that make more sense than Ellen Pages terribly overacted 22 year old feminst in a childs body. Adolf Hitler gave speeches that were more subtle than this movie. Spend 2 hours on Tumblr and you'll feel just as satisfied, actually no, MORE satisfied than if you watched this movie.

Couldn't agree more. And the line "overacted 22 year old feminist in a child's body" was exactly the descriptor I was looking for. People are confusing what this movie was: feminist revenge porn.

It was not as many have claimed some conservative vigilante flick.

It was not a film about a tortured child looking to inflict pain on her imagined captors.

It was not even the standard thriller flick.

It was pure feminist porn disguised as the above. The actress is given so much space and time in the film to chew on. What does she do? Slow castration scenes? Check. Long drawn out begging from a much larger man? Check. Lots of long-winded bravado behind the safe confines of the victim being bound? You betcha. She literally acts like your local 20 year old community college hippie droning on about torturing the patriarchy. All while doing it in ways no 14 year old could even fathom, much less successfully plan and pull off. For quite a while too. Over and over like she can't get enough of its yummy sensation.

And what was the point of the drawn out scene with the neighbor? Why would a pedo care about a 30+ year old woman who left him decades before???? Enough to not simply kill the kid and dispose of the few pictures that were incriminating before the cops get there? On and on....

But the absolute worse, is the way we have to put up with her insanity for large swaths assuming he is guilty without really knowing HOW guilty until the end. It's as if the self-righteous victimhood turned tormentor is so delicious that actual guilt doesn't even factor in. This film would have been infinitely better if he actually was innocent of the crimes, or even just innocent of the murder, and she had to deal with that fact at the end.But alas, no. Clearly little things like guilt, remorse, grey areas don't interest this filmmaker.

3/10 solely because I kept hoping for better and Patrick Wilson is usually pretty good.

There's multiple spelling errors and grammar mistakes in your post.
You should focus on that instead of browsing Tumblr.
