future of Aardman Animations

Aardman Animations is well known for their stop-motion shorts like Wallace and Grommit. So are they gonna take the plunge into the computer animation world because of Flushed Away?

With their gross-sum of money being well less than what they expected, and the tone of the producers in the public eye, it doesn't seem like Aardman will dabble in CGI much more, if any more at all.

They're definitely not going to stop claymation, because that's what they're known for. We all know what's been happening to Disney since they decided to nix 2D movies.

One of the main reasons Flushed Away was CG was because it would take tremendous amounts of money, time, and skill to make a claymation movie with that much water in it. It wasn't because Aardman wanted to switch to CG movies.

Well, Dreamworks also had a huge say in the matter. =/ It's one of the reasons they split. Dreamworks didn't want to pay that much money for Aardman's movie, because of all the water scenes.

Not to mention Madagascar was hastily created after Dreamworks got word of Disney's The Wild. x-x It actually started production first, contrary to popular belief.

Clay or CGI: Aardman produces some of the best examples of animated pictures. Although "Flushed Away" wasn't the big success that everybody expected IMO it's one of the best animated pictures that Dreamworks has ever produced, just behind the 1st installment of Shrek and pretty close from Shrek 2.

Hope to see more from Aardman near in the future.
