Soccer scene angers soccer purists?

I watched this movie for the first time tonight and enjoying the World Cup bits because of the World Cup happening right now. One thing that bugged me was showing the time of the game clock counting down close to the end of the 1st half, to show that there was "approximately" 2 minutes remaining until the end of the half. Come on, was it really necessary to show a countdown timer, solely to not confuse American audiences who are unfamiliar with the traditional soccer clock that counts up to 45 minutes? I think for that short of the scene, they could have show the clock at 43 minutes and kept the audio stating that there was approximately 2 minutes left in the first half. Of course, the movie didn't want to deal with stoppage time either. Oh well. I know it's just a movie, but you shouldn't change the soccer clock to a countdown timer just to please an ignorant American audience.

I noticed it as well but I wasn't too bothered by it. All the other football scenes are really silly. More than likely it was for the littluns watching as well as perhaps an audience unfamiliar with the length of a half of football (americans).

Loved this film by the way. Massively overlooked. More visual jokes in this than any other film i've seen. So many little references and gags.

But they got the result right with England losing on penalties in 2006...
