Invasion of Privacy?

Why did that one kid say that installing security cameras was an invasion of privacy? More to the point why did that statement go uncorrected? School grounds are public places. So... I'm not even gonna go further than that.

However, that being said, I generally liked this movie, and I love Anton Yelchin, great young actor.
