Most Depressing Movie I've Seen, But Beautiful At The Same Time

Great story about a great songwriter but, wow, what a suffering man. The silver lining is that I think Townes did know that he was very appreciated as opposed to suffering artists such as many painters whose greatness is not publicly applauded until after the artist is gone. With great artists covering his stuff while he could see it was a good thing, to me, for his soul. You could say that some people are alcoholics and that the booze IS the problem but I would say, with some people(like Townes) the alcohol kept them from full on dispair and insanity. Beautifully depressing story of a troubled but much appreciated man. A purist that the music industry rarely gets to experience.

You're right. Only knowing you're appreciated doesn't help much when your all alone in a room with rubber curtains...
That kind of depression don't go away for nuthin'. Alcohol deadens everything but the thing is... you gotta be drunk all the time. All the time. You can't never be straight ... He was a hopeless cripple. There's a lot of us. Townes was a genuis whether or not he was drunk and out of his mind.

Look up a song writer named Malcolm Holcombe. A record called one Hundred lies. You'll appreciate it.
