Q about TVZ in Amsterdam DVD
on the townes van zandt website they are selling the amsterdam dvd for $30. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it's worth the money and is the video quality good? Thanks.
shareIt's basically a good, solid concert dvd. It's just Townes and his guitar, sometimes accompanied by Mickey on guitar as well. The video quality is good and he tells a joke or two. So if you like concert dvds and you like Townes, this will probably be worth it to you.

shareAnyone buying this DVD must also know that the camera people spent about half the concert trying to get the cameras steady, focused and at the right angle. I was disappointed in the look of this video, the lights were bad and the lead camera was placed behind the audience it seemed, leaving us to watch Townes at a distance. The second part of the concert, after Townes came back out after a 20 minute break (which was edited out of course) the camera focused up closer and steadier and I was more satisfied. He was good. He was always good. On this tour, Townes took his son Will and his young pregnant wife, Jeanene.
