Anybody else got pissed off once they saw Eggers?

Considering how much hassle he caused for Townes both financially and artisticly...

Or is it just me?

reply

When it premiered here in Nashville everybody booed the guy when his face came in. Can't stand that weasel!

reply

Yeah, me too (or me neither, grammar? English is not my first language)

Almost everbody you see an interview of that knew Eggers, you can hear they really disliked the guy...

reply

Gonzo - Where are you from? (if you don't mind me askin'?) I know Townes was so much more appreciated outside his own borders. I'm USA born and bred.

reply

I'm from Norway in Scandinavia. And I'm 25 incase you should wonder (never knew how that 81 got on my nick)

reply

I'll tell ya Gonzo, you Norweigians know your music! There's a professor out of Oslo who has put together a fine fine website dedicated to The Band. I have been impressed with the musical tastes of your country for a long time! I'm not surprised that you come from that lovely place. Nice to meet you! I happen to be a 51 year old woman. I got my tag from the Tom Waits song "Tom Traubert's Blues". Now everybody thinks I'm a man from China with a wild wild west fixation.... Or maybe a Kung Fu lover or.... maybe I voted for John McCain!

reply

Hehe, thanks, but I'm afraid us norwegians are just like the rest of the world. Some of us actually enjoy good music, whereas others listen to crap...
Tom Waits is also one of my favourites

Love your Kerouac-quote btw

He's got his very own wall at the Old Quarter
They sing a lot of his songs around here
From Rex's Blues to Flyin' Shoes to White Freightliner Blues
To If I needed You
People come and go at the Old Quarter
They see his pictures hangin' on the wall
It seems a shame to me that most just come to see
They never come to know him a'tall

He might be long gone from this room
But his melodies rise up to fill the air
And after a little dance, there's a very good chance
That you might hear the Ghost of Townes Van Zandt

And in the warm and gentle breezes of his memory
Where we fare well and ever strive to measure up
To the Poet we've admired
Who continues to inspire
Even when our own time here is up

So let's sing some Townes' songs in remembrance
To honor him and have a little more fun
I know that he will hear cause he's hangin' out in here
If only For The Sake Of The Song

He might be long gone from our world
But his melodies rise up and fill the air
And after a little dance, there's a mighty good chance
That you might hear the Ghost of Townes Van Zandt

Yeah, after a little dance, there's an awfully good chance
That you might hear the Ghost of Townes Van Zandt

I find it strange that whenever i see a favourites list of Towns songs there's never a mention for "At my Window" seriously no one even has it in their top twenty!!

"Hoping the stars know, it's time to shine" that line alone must be the most romantically beautiful song lyric ever penned so simple yet so breathtakingly beautiful, which in a way i suppose also describes the man himself.
