Beatbox Bandits: Yamane loves Mugen? Other thoughts?

Was that real or were the writers just messing with us, when the Yamane said "Got ya!".

I actually thought the Yamane's love (I think he loved him) for Mugen could have been a cool story, at least way better than the foreign guy they had who was gay.

Yeah, the young soldier didn't seem to get the difference between love and orgy, but it made me feel like he's actual decent gay character among yaoi characters. It's sad that I could add this guy to the small list of actually good gay male anime/manga characters, if he was meant to be gay (I wasn't sure).

Well, anime/manga depictions of gay and bi men definitely need improvement, so that's partly why I was so interested in Yamane and on his own he was just so compelling. His narration (I watched the English dub) was awesome (even if he was extremely naive about that sex party) and I was disappointed that I knew he wouldn't be in other episodes. He could have been a great addition to the group, like the scholarly guide. Even if he didn't end up with Mugen(who would be bi in this scenario), he could have been revolutionary and ended up with someone else as part of an epic loving couple.
