Another topic that's been picked clean but I've just gotta ask. . .
Like I said, I've seen this topic discussed at length in other forums but I'd like to get other peoples opinion on it (and some of you might already know what I'm talking about).
In episode 24 there's the scene when it's nightfall and the trio are sleeping outside by a riverbank. Jin notices Fuu is not asleep and sees her standing by the river and the two of them engage in a small conversation.
Jin asks Fuu what she intends to do after she meets the sunflower samurai and Fuu admits that she hasn't given it much thought. Jin starts to say, "Perhaps I should..." but then Fuu cuts him off, like she knows what he's about to say. She tells him, "I really don't want to think about that stuff right now." and then brings up Mugen. She and Jin have a moment and then we see Mugen is awake and possibly overheard the whole conversation. My question is:
What do you think Jin was about to say to Fuu? Did Fuu really anticipate what he was going to say, and if so, why did the thought of it make her so upset?
I really didn't truly understand the conversation when I first saw that scene, and even after seeing it 3 or 4 more times it still didn't make a whole lot of sense. It wasn't until I stumbled across a fan form a few years ago where the topic was being discussed and I started putting the pieces of the puzzle together. It also helped explained events that occurred later in that episode and in the final 2 episodes of the series as well.
I have my theory but I want to hear what everyone else thinks first.
