Not a bad show

This shows actually alright. In comparisen to other Australian dramas. As I hate them all. All of them! EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM! But I digress. Its not exactly the most accurate portrayal of Australian males, but its fairly entertaining none the less. Any thoughts?

i find it entertaining, It's alot better than most Aussie dramas but not all of them... Blue Heelers will always be better

reply

I'm all for shows that display normal people, unlike shows that have some sort of gimmick such as disease of the week (All Saints) or crime of the week (Blue Heelers). This one's good, but it's no Secret Life...

Being female, I guess I don't *know* for sure what blokes talk about when we aren't around, but I get the feeling they don't do all the soul-searching, warm and fuzzy stuff we have seen so far.

I have checked with my beloved hubby - he agrees that the dialogue is not exactly accurate. Well, after all, the head writer is female, the others are male.

Do we get a man's idea of what a woman wants to think that a man thinks, or do we have a woman's view of a man's view of what a woman wants to think a man thinks?

Or should I just stop analysing it and watch the show ?

Not making another series.
This series is all she wrote.

this show is worthy of another series, compared to the amount of crap there is on tv.

reply

Agreed. This angers me to see it being cancelled. The fact that we can have home and away 5 days a week and this is being cancelled is a crying shame. Sure its not the most accurate portrayal of australian blokes but its the closest thing i've seen yet. I truly believe if they had done it right and enough people saw it they would actually like it. We need shows like this, otherwise we resort to American shows in which we pretend to relate to.

This is the absolute best show I've seen on TV, Aussie or not, in a long time. And I mean a proper drama show. Not reality, not stopping terrorists from blowing up the world, not another ever-failing sketch comedy show, but an actual drama portrayal that we can relate to and that you can really actually get glued to.

I just can't believe Last Man Standing hasn't been given another series. I think half the fault of the poor ratings has to fall on channel 7 for putting it in rediculous time slots. First up against Big Brother Uncut which all the little horny 12 year-olds will be watching, so comparison there would be a little unbalanced, then at 10 PM on a Tuesday which is really strange and not something you can easily remember.

As it's been said the fact that Home and Away, Neighbours, McLeod's Daughters and shows like this that have ever repetitive storylines are still running on TV, yet something innovative and new, gets a "make it or break it" chance with one season.

Channel 7 execs should be shot.

I'd like to be optimistic and say another channel might pick it up, but alas all the props have been sold and it's goodnight for Last Man Standing.

reply

Its ridiculous. I wish we had more power. People would watch this if they got the chance to properly see it. This is channel 7's fault. What a waste of a good show

reply

Simply not fair. Loved this show - better than all the other crap on t.v. I loved Bruno and Adam's brother.

The last episode was pretty average tho.

reply

Crap way to end it but I s'pose it was written before they had the knowledge the show had been (wrongly) canned.

reply

I was a little disappointed in the ending at first however after thinking about it a bit more i actually think it does a nice job of wrapping up most of the storylines without going over the top and leaves us to imagine for ourselves how it all works out.

reply

But I didn't want to IMAGINE how it works itself out - I wanted to actually see it happen! Bloody channel 7...
